So if I'm not doing work or surfing the Internet looking for random objects, I'm usually looking for food or actually eating it. I had a grilled cheese sandwich the other day which quelled my hankering for mac and cheese for a bit. Not good enough, though. Anyhoo, I'm not going to bore people again with my tales from the extensive list of places in which I do work. Most of them are kinda nerdy stories. Maybe another day. I'm kinda tired, if you can't tell from the monotonous sound of my voice. I love how shiny all the Chinese food looks. Grease is good for you, if you haven't heard already.

Above: Heh, pigs' ears. Chinese people are kinda grotesque.

I made this mushroom risotto while I was in Boston over Thanksgiving. It was good, if I dare say so myself. I basically followed the instructions on the back of a box of arborio rice.

It rained yesterday in California. Like, El Nino type rain. Many trees fell and people couldn't stop talking about the wind. Oh, how spoilt Californians are.

In N Out (of my head)

I cannot express in words the feelings I have for this burger joint (found only in California, Utah, Arizona and Vegas, might I smugly add). It was my roommate's birthday and we decided to head out to In N Out for a hearty greasy all American burger meal. And because I'd never been, I insisted we go after hearing so many stories about this place.

A 35 minute bus ride, the dismissal of the scent of 15 foul smelling hobos, their deranged comments and a 10 minute walk later, we reached this godsend of a place in the middle of bloody nowhere (Pacific Plaza, 2910 Damon Avenue. Next to some car dealership, if you really want to know).

I have given up caring. I must've consumed about 2000 calories that night.

Double double (i.e double patty, double cheese) with a side of animal style fries (melted cheese with fried scallions atop freshly made french fries)

It's moments like these where I feel it's appropriate to quote Stewie Griffin: "There's an orgy in my mouth!"

Eating Isn't a Crime

A banana chocolate muffin I made for my flatmate's birthday.

Kulu Kulu Sushi @ Brewer St. Stuffed my fucking face silly.

(I'd totally forgotten how yummy these stupid things are. Each box contains 320 calories though. Wtf)

(As opposed to a mere 72 cals per 100g of frozen yogurt!!!)

And so I present to you the latest trend in London - frozen yogurt. LA must be laughing at us.

Food will always be my first <3

The Rain in Spain Falls Mainly on the Plain

Went on a two and a half day whirlwind tour of Barcelona, just because it's an absolute tourist trap that everyone must see.

Highlights and lowlights:

- We were robbed of 50 euros before our very eyes by a cruel woman who thought she could gladly take advantage of three Asian girls travelling by themselves.

"You give me no 50, no 50!"
"For fuck's sake, we just GAVE you a 50 euro bill!"
"No 50, no 50!"

The protest goes on for a while until a girl in a Foo Fighters sweater snidely says "Go back to Singapore!", to which we replied, "Fuck you, we're not from Singapore! Damn bitch." I don't understand people who say "Go back to *insert respective Asian country here*". HOW do you bring yourself to say such things without feeling slightly guilty? I blame the parents. I do.

And just like that we had to cough up an extra 21 euros for the bus ride from Girona (the airport) to Barcelona because she took MY 50 and said I didn't give her any money. Not to say we weren't told to be careful because almost everyone who goes to Barcelona has some sort of theft/loss story to tell.

- Food was so-so. Paella was a disappointment. I've had better at La Bodega back home, sad to say. Churros, however, never fails. Patatas fritas, too, never ever fails. Oh, how I long for the glorious taste of the spicy saltiness of a carefully cubed deep fried potato that's been lightly smothered in garlic mayonnaise to be etched permanently on my tongue :(

- Camwhoring at Park Guell.

- The weather was fucking miserable. Kept pissing rain - like how it does in London.

- Buying 18 cents water.

- Lusting over the new S/S 09 Zara blazers. They had every colour of the rainbow!! I clapped my hands in glee when I saw them and drew some strange looks, but alas..there was no time to queue. C'est la vie. You can never have too many blazers.

Photowhoring at Park Guell

My short lived sexual love affair with patatas fritas.

Look up 'decadence' in the dictionary and you should see this picture next to it.

I couldn't help myself =)

Tapas at the famed Bilbao Berria

Sagrada Familia, the church that's been under construction since 1882.

Casa Batllo, famed for its Gaudi architecture.
(Next time I also want my house to look like this)

Back to the grind stone. How reality sucks.

I want macaroons.

Heart Attack Sandwich

Deep Fried Cupcake with Chocolate Sauce and Sprinkles

(Images from thisiswhyyourefat.com)

In essence, this website was made to deter people from eating bad, bad foods.

HOWEVER. I'm not sure about the effect it has on me because these days I've been teetering on the fine line between eating 4 Hummingbird cupcakes at a go and simply not eating at all.

I ate a handful of jellybeans today though, just because I cannot walk into Topshop without perusing the sweets section. In any case, I needed glucose to fuel my burnt out calf muscles and hamstrings after having raped and pillaged Oxford St.

Anyhoo, I digress. To be frank, I'm quite curious about how these things taste. Especially that deep fried cupcake. (Must make mental note to go around to a chip shop to order a deep fried Mars bar).  There's something called Deep Fried Coca Cola too, which is basically kway koh dok fried with Coke instead of with bananas or jackfruit topped with powdered sugar.

Shiok or not?

There is an entire diorama of wildly weird and wonderful food blogs out there, to name but a few:

Eh, Malaysian food can get pretty weird sometimes too (don't even talk to me about tempoyak; it's the ONLY thing I will not eat) - but always in a good way lah.
